Hitit Collection 50% Wool 50% Jute Handwoven Traditional Anatolian Living Room Rug – White (Anthracite Flecked)
The Hitit Collection Handwoven Rug is a special collection that brings traditional weaving culture into modern living spaces. Made from a 50% wool and 50% jute blend, this rug is 100% natural and combines the warmth of wool with the natural feel of jute to give living rooms, sitting rooms, and bedrooms a simple yet distinctive character. This variant features black-anthracite flecked yarn woven into a cream-white ground, creating a simple yet characterful white tone.
What Are Wool and Jute?
Wool and jute are two natural fibers sourced from nature. Wool is a warm, flexible, and durable animal fiber obtained from sheep. Jute is a strong plant fiber with a natural texture, obtained from the stems of the jute plant. In the Hitit Collection, 50% wool and 50% jute come together to offer both wool’s softness and warmth and jute’s natural, earthy texture, creating a breathable, healthy, and traditional foundation. The naturally crimped structure of wool fibers gives the rug softness and sound-absorbing properties, while the high tensile strength of jute fibers helps the rug retain its shape for years. Compared with synthetic rugs, the combination of these two natural fibers offers a more natural feel and a healthier experience indoors.
Hitit and Anatolian Heritage
The Hittites were an ancient people who established a powerful civilization in Anatolia between approximately 1650 and 1180 BCE, with their capital at Hattusa (near present-day Çorum). One of Anatolia’s oldest cultures, the Hittites left their mark on history with their rich motifs and symbols. The Hitit Collection draws inspiration from this ancient Anatolian heritage and traditional weaving culture; its simple, natural, and timeless lines bring this rich aesthetic into modern living spaces.

How to Clean a Hitit Rug
Hitit Collection wool and jute rugs should be cleaned by dry cleaning only. Since jute fiber is sensitive to water, washing at home, cleaning with large amounts of water, or soaking is not recommended; this helps preserve the rug’s shape and natural texture. For daily care, use a low-suction vacuum cleaner. If liquid spills, promptly spot-clean the area with a slightly damp cloth.

Protect Their Elegance
To preserve the original splendor and silky texture of Carpetdocia’s handwoven, natural-fiber creations that bring value to your living space for generations, adopt a gentle care routine.
Immediate Action and Liquid Spills
When spills occur, timing is critical. Use a clean, slightly damp cloth to lift the liquid from the surface by gently blotting only - never rub. Always work in the direction of the rug pile (the fibers’ natural lay). Rubbing can damage the shape of delicate fibers such as TENCEL™ and viscose. If in doubt, stop immediately.
Routine Care and Light Balance
For your weekly cleaning routine, always use vacuum cleaners with low suction power. High-powered upright vacuums and stiff brushes can damage the natural structure of handwoven yarns. To balance natural fibers’ reaction to light and prevent localized tonal differences (fading), we recommend changing your rug’s direction every 2 to 6 months.
The Expert Touch (Professional Cleaning)
Noble fibers such as handwoven TENCEL™, viscose, and New Zealand wool should not come into contact with household chemical cleaners. These products can irreversibly damage the rug’s silky sheen and structural integrity. For a thorough clean, seek help only from professional rug care centers specializing in natural fibers.
Washing Instructions
The exquisite pieces in the Carpetdocia collections are not suitable for machine washing due to their construction. (Only specific models explicitly labeled “Washable” in their name can be washed in home washing machines using a low-temperature, delicate cycle.)
