Hitit Series 50% Wool 50% Jute Handwoven Traditional Anatolian Living Room Rug – White (Anthracite Flecked)

The Hitit Series Handwoven Rug is a special collection that brings traditional weaving culture into modern living spaces. Made from a 50% wool and 50% jute blend, this rug contains 100% natural materials. Combining the warmth of wool with the natural character of jute, it adds a simple yet striking character to areas such as living rooms, lounges, and bedrooms. This variant features a simple yet distinctive white tone, with black-anthracite flecked yarn woven into a cream-white background.

What Are Wool and Jute?

Wool and jute are two natural fibers obtained from nature. Wool is a warm, flexible, and durable animal fiber obtained from sheep. Jute is a strong, naturally textured plant fiber obtained from the stems of the jute plant. In the Hitit Series, 50% wool and 50% jute come together to offer both the softness and warmth of wool and the natural, earthy-toned texture of jute, creating a breathable, healthy, and traditional foundation. The naturally crimped structure of wool fibers gives the rug softness and sound-absorbing properties, while the high tensile strength of jute fibers helps the rug maintain its shape for years. Compared with synthetic rugs, the combination of these two natural fibers offers a more natural experience and a healthier feel in indoor spaces.

Hitit and Anatolian Heritage

The Hittites were an ancient people who established a powerful civilization in Anatolia between approximately 1650 and 1180 BC, with their capital at Hattusa (near present-day Çorum). One of Anatolia's oldest cultures, the Hittites left their mark on history through their rich motifs and symbols. The Hitit Series draws inspiration from this ancient Anatolian heritage and traditional weaving culture; with its simple, natural, and timeless lines, it brings this deep-rooted aesthetic into modern living spaces.

Bring the Texture of Anatolia into Your Home

The Hitit Series has a minimalist yet powerful aesthetic. It looks best in spaces furnished with traditional and natural textures. Thanks to its high-quality jute and wool blend, it is both durable and designed to provide years of use.

Key Features

  • Anatolian Influences: Design lines reflecting the spirit of traditional weaving
  • Natural Comfort: A breathable structure made from a blend of jute and wool
  • Crafted by Artisans: Each rug is carefully made by hand

How Should the Hitit Rug Be Cleaned?

Hitit Series wool and jute rugs should only be cleaned by dry cleaning. Since jute fiber is sensitive to water, washing at home, cleaning with large amounts of water, or soaking is not recommended; this helps preserve the rug's shape and natural texture. For daily care, a low-suction vacuum cleaner may be used; in the event of liquid spills, spot-clean promptly with a slightly damp cloth.

What Sizes Is the Hitit Available In?

This color is available in the following sizes:

  • 130 x 190 cm (~2.5 m²) – compact living room, bedroom
  • 170 x 240 cm (~4.1 m²) – medium-sized living room, lounge
  • 200 x 300 cm (~6 m²) – spacious living room, open-plan area

Bring the deep-rooted texture of Anatolia and the warmth of natural materials into your home with the Hitit Series white wool and jute handwoven traditional rug. Unconditional returns are available within 14 days of delivery. For more options, explore our jute rugs and handwoven rugs collections.

Protect Your Rug’s Elegance
A careful care routine should be adopted to preserve the original splendor and silky texture of Carpetdocia’s handwoven, natural-fiber creations—pieces that add value to your living space—for generations to come.

Immediate Action and Liquid Spills
When a liquid is spilled, timing is the most critical factor. Using a clean, slightly damp cloth, remove the liquid from the surface by gently blotting only—never rub. Always work in the direction of the rug’s pile (the natural direction in which the fibers lie). Rubbing can damage the structure of delicate fibers such as TENCEL™ and viscose. If in doubt, stop immediately.

Routine Care and Light Balance
For your weekly cleaning routine, always use vacuum cleaners with low suction power. High-powered upright vacuums and stiff brushes can damage the natural structure of handwoven yarns. To balance the natural fibers’ reaction to light and prevent uneven color changes (fading), we recommend changing the direction of your rug every 2 to 6 months.

Expert Care (Professional Cleaning)
Delicate materials such as handwoven fibers, TENCEL™, viscose, and New Zealand wool should not come into contact with household chemical cleaners. These products can irreversibly damage the rug’s silky sheen and structural integrity. For deep cleaning, seek assistance only from professional rug-care centers specializing in natural fibers.

Washing Instructions
The delicate pieces in the Carpetdocia collections are not suitable for machine washing due to their construction. (Only specific models clearly marked “Washable” in their names may be washed in household machines using a low-temperature, delicate cycle.)
